Neuroimaging Biomarker

Brain imaging methods are used by neuroimaging biomarkers to scan the morphology, function, microenvironment, metabolism, and molecular makeup of the brain and its lesions. Examples of these techniques are MRI, fMRI, perfusion MRI, and PET-FDG (Boland. 2014).

Assessment of beta-amyloid deposition with amyloid PET, measurement of brain metabolism with FDG-PET, and measurement of brain and hippocampal shrinkage with MRI are all examples of neuroimaging biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease (Bateman et al. 2012).
